We are focused on a specific type of business. If you have built an exceptional utility infrastructure services company with a safety-first culture, recurring utility contracts, and a team that wants to keep growing — we want to hear from you.
Northridge is not a generalist buyer. We have built a clear picture of the businesses we want to partner with — and we look for each of these criteria in every conversation.
We look for founders and leadership teams who have built a real business — not just a book of contracts. The best utility services companies are run by people who know their craft inside and out, who have earned the trust of their customers over years of reliable work, and who have built a team that reflects their values. We are looking for operators with a true partnership mindset: people who want to stay involved, share in the upside, and build something larger together.
We focus primarily on services that utility operators need regardless of economic conditions — mission-critical, recurring work such as transmission and distribution maintenance, vegetation management, right-of-way clearing, and aerial inspection. While we recognize that some construction and project-based work is a natural part of a utility services business, our focus is on companies where maintenance and recurring service relationships are the foundation of the business.
We look for businesses with established service agreements, master service agreements (MSAs), or long-term maintenance contracts with utility customers. High contract renewal rates, multi-year relationships, and predictable revenue visibility are strong positive signals. We are looking for businesses that customers come back to year after year.
We want businesses with a name that means something in their market. A strong regional reputation — built over years of reliable, safe work — is often more valuable than geographic scale. If your customers know your company, trust your crews, and call you first when something goes wrong, that is exactly what we are looking for. You do not need to be the biggest company in the country to be the right partner for Northridge.
We are looking for businesses with the operational infrastructure to support growth — either organically or through additional acquisitions into their geography or adjacent service lines. That does not mean you need to already be large. It means your processes, your equipment, and your team have the foundation to grow. Businesses that are already operating in multiple locations, or that have a clear roadmap for expanding their service footprint, are particularly attractive.
We focus primarily on businesses generating between $2 million and $15 million or more in EBITDA annually. Businesses at the lower end of this range may be considered as add-on acquisitions into an existing Northridge portfolio company. Larger businesses are evaluated as potential platform anchors or significant add-ons. If you are not sure where you fit, reach out — we are happy to have a conversation.
Northridge is building a platform across three service verticals: aerial, field, and engineering services. If your business operates in or adjacent to any of these areas, we want to hear from you.
